Biography

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from University of Macau, Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Hong Kong. Recipient of Shanghai Baiyulan Talent Program and Xinglin Young Scholar of Shanghai University of TCM. Long-term research on herbal medicine pharmacology and cardiovascular-metabolic diseases, with over 50 publications in journals including Pharmacological Research, Phytomedicine, Journal of Ethnopharmacology. Principal Investigator of 13 grants including National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Research

Herbal Efficacy & Active Compounds — Using multiple disease models (cells, zebrafish, mice, rats) to evaluate herbal efficacy, screen active compounds and elucidate mechanisms.
Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases — Herbal intervention and mechanistic studies on atherosclerosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, heart failure and obesity.
Cardio-oncology & Neurodegeneration — Protective effects and mechanisms of herbal medicine on cancer-related cardiotoxicity, neurodegenerative diseases and cerebral hemorrhage.
Vascular Biology & Coronary Microcirculation — Herbal regulation mechanisms on endothelial dysfunction, angiogenesis, inflammation, vascular senescence and coronary microcirculation dysfunction.
Circadian Rhythms & Diseases — Relationship between cardiovascular/metabolic circadian rhythm disorders and diseases, and herbal regulatory effects on circadian rhythms.

Zhongyan Zhou, Ph.D. is Associate Researcher and Graduate Supervisor at Central Laboratory & Cardiology Research Office, Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Recipient of Shanghai Baiyulan Talent Program and Xinglin Young Scholar Award.
